Obituary for Judith Ann (Osterberg) Weber—What an Astounding Journey
Judith Ann Weber was taken peacefully on Sunday, October 24th at the age of 75, residing previously at the Seasons of Life Hospice House, Woodruff, Wisconsin and presently till the end of her journey at House of the Dove Hospice House, Marshfield, WI. Judy was born on January 16, 1946, in Rhinelander, Wisconsin to Charles Theodore and Catherine Mabel (Turriff) Osterberg. Her faithfulness to the Catholic Church prevailed with devotion through Baptism, the First Communion, and Confirmation to end of life.
Living in Conover through her early years, Judy attended the Conover Grade School then on to Eagle River High School, graduating in 1964. During high school she was a cheerleader, the homecoming queen, played in the band, serving as class officer her junior & senior years and a member of the National Honor Society. After high school moving to Milwaukee, where she attended and graduated from the Bryant & Stratton Business Institute. Judy obtained her first job with the accounting firm of Kohler Associates in Milwaukee where she worked until her marriage to her high school love forever.
Judy married Roger on November 12, 1966, at Saint Peter the Fisherman Catholic Parish in Eagle River, Wisconsin. A reception celebration was held at Johnny Jo’s Hillside Inn among many, many relatives, and friends. Judy accompanied Roger during the Air force military tours to Lowery Air Force Base in Denver, Colorado, Williams Air Force Base in Chandler, Arizona, and ending in 1970 at Nellis Air Force Base in Las Vegas, Nevada. Judy worked on base in numerous Air Force Commissaries during the deployments. During the tour at Lowery the Weber family expanded with the birth of baby Michele in 1969 being born at Fitzsimons Army Hospital in Aurora, Colorado. After the military tours, returning to Wisconsin in 1970, we welcomed son Scott born at St Michael’s Hospital in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. In a short period of time of living in Milwaukee they moved back home to Sayner/St. Germain, Wisconsin, where Judy and family lived and worked, enjoying days filled with many journeys.
The Weber family grew as Michele married Rick Knueppel, and they brought into the world two children Keaton and Kallie. Scott married Beth Snedden having four children McKenzie, Courtney, Dylan, and Noah. Judy adored her six grandchildren and most recently her two great-grandchildren, Reese Mae and Lona Louise Rabenn born to McKenzie and Benjamin Rabenn.
Judy’s accomplishments and volunteer services included 28 years as an Emergency Medical Technician with the Town of Plum Lake Emergency Services. She served as squad secretary as well as an attendant on the Ambulance Service. To her credit, she was instrumental in attaining the property and in the successful construction of the new EMS quarters on Hwy 155 in Sayner Wisconsin. Her many years of service devoted to her community have underscored her legacy.
Along with her dedicated years of volunteer service and her loves, Judy’s professional career included employment at the Women’s Health Agency in St. Germain, Wisconsin, followed by a position at Howard Young Medical Center in Women’s Health. She then moved to the Emergency Room for 14 years at Howard Young Medical Center as an EMT-I and transporter. She also became an Eye Enucleator, was proficient in sign language at the Center, was certified in Basic Trauma Life Support and Advance Cardiac Life Support. In 1999, Judy had the opportunity to work within Family Practice at Marshfield Clinic Lakeland Center as a National Certified Medical Assistant for 10 years under the direction of Doctor Tom Gabert and Sheila Reichel - Physician Assistant-Certified.
Her further volunteerism included joining the Plum Lake Blazers, co-founding the Sayner Bingo Nite, becoming a charter member of the Sayner Star Lake Lioness Club, establishing the Northwoods EMS Association, and being the originator/coordinator for the EMS Critical Incident Stress Debriefing program.
Judy enjoyed playing softball and golf and accumulating championships in playing pool with her sharpshooting teammates. The hospitality industry was also a part of her life through the family businesses of Weber’s Wildlife Bar and Chances’ R Bar & Grill. Her hobbies included quilting, ceramics, the Red Hat Society, shopping, and collecting household antiques and her Precious Moments figurines, which she had told Roger he would really like. Being the mother of two and grandmother of six active kids led Judy to attend many softball, baseball, volleyball, hockey, football, soccer, and basketball games as well as many school events, which she genuinely enjoyed. Judy was also a Campfire Girl Scout Leader, a 4H tutor, and the PTA President at the St. Germain school.
Judith Ann Weber is survived by her husband, Roger, daughter Michele, grandchildren McKenzie, Courtney, Dylan, Noah, Keaton and Kallie and great grandchildren Reese and Lona, two sisters, Donna Mae (Esko) Lepisto and Mary Janet (Dale) Henning, and by nieces, nephews and cousins, including her sister Lois’ children Charles, Donald, James, and Roger; sister Jean’s sons Theodore, and William, sister Donna’s children Jennie, Shirley, Diane, and Kenneth; brother Donald’s son Mark; and sister Janet’s son Michael, brother in-law Gene Weber (Sandy Roeske) their children Christine and Jody, sister in-laws Audrey Shay (John) children Randy, Dale, Brian, Karen (Weber) Stecker (Larry) and their children Benjamin and Abigail
She was preceded in death by her parents Charles Theodore and Catherine Mabel Osterberg, by her sibling Catherine Lois (Leo) Tienhaara, Margaret Jean (Victor) Ranta, Edward Donald (Patricia) Osterberg, Charles Kenneth Osterberg, James Edward Osterberg, and Edward Charles Osterberg, by her niece Susan (Osterberg) Kieck and nephew David Tienhaara. She was further preceded in death by her father-in-law Leonard Delbert Weber, her mother-in-law Ellen Elvina (Ahlborn) Weber, brother-in-law Lawrence (Larry) James Stecker, and son-in-law Ricky (Rick) Allen Knueppel, and beloved son Scott Leonard Weber.
A special thank you to sisters-in-laws Audrey and Sandy and to her sister Jan for days of compassionate care in her final years. Incredibly special gratitude to the Ascension Home Health caregivers, Seasons of Life staff, House of Dove staff and volunteers who are forever cherished for the unlimited care in her 13-year journey with the disease known as Frontotemporal Dementia.
In memorials Judith is remembered for her care of others, kindness, sense of humor, strength, and friendship to all, wishing in her honor, to enjoy life to the fullest, be kind to others, and be grateful as life is precious.

To Scott from Mom: “our hearts follow you on all your journeys. I will see you again; this is not how it ends. I will carry you with me.” Heaven received son Scott on May 12, 2019.
