Judith (Judy) P. Schmidt, 83,went peacefully to be with Jesus on January 10, 2020 at Country Terrace, where she lived for more than ten years.
Judy was born in Milwaukee on Judy 29, 1936, the first child of Helen (McGlinn) and Roy Schmidt. After her birth, she and her parents returned to Winchester, Wisconsin where she lived with her family until moving to Country Terrace in Minocqua. Judy and her mother were inseparable doing everything together until Helen passed away in 2012. From the beginning of Judy’s life at Country Terrace, Kristy Burke, the staff and residents cared for Judy with kindness, compassion and respect. They became another part of her family where she thrived and was happy. There are no words to express how deeply grateful the family is for what they became to Judy. She loved them and they loved her in return.
Judy enjoyed several pastimes: coloring, playing Bingo, and watching TV, but what she enjoyed and looked forward to most were the holidays, especially Easter and Christmas. She could hardly wait for the Easter bunny and Santa Claus. While waiting for them, she would sing “Jesus Loves Me” or “Here Comes Santa Claus”. Her birthday was also a special occasion celebrated with a “wedding” cake surrounded by family and friends.
Judy was the sunshine in every day, our special angel. Her enthusiastic hello and huge smile made everyone’s day brighter. She had a way of making everyone feel special and in turn everyone around her wanted her day to be special too. She’ll certainly be remembered for the flower in her hair and the several strands of beads she wore each day.
Judy is survived by her sisters Janice Campfield, Rosalae Schultz and brothers Robert Schmidt (Sharon) and Jack Schmidt (Therese), nieces Linda Hickman (Patrick) and Penny Schultz, nephews Todd Campfield, William T.Scheels, Thomas Scheels, Robert Schmidt, Jr. (Teresa), Peter Schultz (Amy), Erik Schultz (Jodi), and Jack Schmidt (Nicole), and several great- nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephew.
She was preceded in death by her parents Helen and Roy Schmidt, sister Sally Scheels, brothers-in-law William E.Scheels, Edward Campfield, Peter Schultz, nephew Michael Schmidt, great-nephew Matthew Hickman and great-niece Kimberly Scheels.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Kate Hospice and Dr. Nemcek for their compassionate care of Judy.
