Julia L'Abbe

Julia L'Abbe, age 91, Tomahawk, passed away Thursday, July 28, 2011 at Golden Living Center - Riverview in Tomahawk. Julia was born June 17, 1920 in Terre Haute, Indiana, the daughter of August and Eva Shimkus. She married John L'Abbe April 11, 1940 in Rhinelander; he passed away in 1997. Julia was a homemaker, and was a member of the Grey Ladies, the American Legion Auxiliary, and St. Mary Catholic Church in Tomahawk. Survivors include: Daughters Julie (Jack) Thayer Tomahawk Kerry Gaedtke Tomahawk Karen L'Abbe Rothschild Son Jack L'Abbe Longmont, Colorado Sister-in-law Lorretta Shimkus Rhinelander Julia is further survived by 5 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son-in-law, Hal Gaedtke, a brother, and 3 sisters. A Mass of Christian Burial for Julia L'Abbe will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 2, 2011 from St. Mary Catholic Church in Tomahawk. Fr. John Anderson will officiate. The family will receive friends at the church on Tuesday from 2:00 p.m. until the hour of Mass at 4:00 p.m. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Tomahawk.
