Kathleen Erika Kinney (“Kath”) entered this life December 30, 1947. She entered eternal life July 28, 2017. She was 69.
A resident and lover of the Northwoods for more than 45 years, Kath loved kayaking, especially on Clear Lake. She was an avid reader, an excellent pianist, a meticulous seamstress, a lover of German Shepherds, and a constant listener of classical music. Kath was in charge of the laboratories at Peter Christensen Medical Health Center for many years.
She will be remembered as a person of deep Christian and political convictions, quiet, and determined. She struggled with serious health issues for more than ten of her last years. She was deeply grateful for her faithful family, a host of wonderful friends, and her beloved feline companions Chrissy and Onyx.
Kath is survived by brother Norman (Margaret) Kressmann of Raymore, Missouri, and sister Karen (Jim) Carter of Saint Germain, Wisconsin, as well as niece Laura Penhallow and nephews Paul Kressmann and Dr. Mikkel Storaasli. Kath’s brother and sister are especially appreciative of the care she continued to receive from the pastoral and nursing staff of Ascension Lutheran Church in Minocqua.
The family will greet her dear friends at Nimsgern Funeral Home, Woodruff, on Monday, August 7. Visitation will be at 10 AM, with a Christian service following at 11.
Instead of flowers, it was Kath’s wish that memorials be made in her name to Ascension Lutheran Church, Minocqua; Public Radio Station WXPR, 28 N. Stevens Street, Rhinelander; or the Oneida County Humane Society/Animal Health Care Center, 1848 N. Stevens Street, Rhinelander
