Ken Kenworthy, age 79, of Tomahawk, passed away on July 30, 2016 at Golden Living – Riverview Nursing Home under the care of Asera Care Hospice.
Ken was born on March 8, 1937 in Battle Creek, MI to Kenard & Joyce (Craig) Kenworthy. Ken served in the US Army from 1960 until his honorable discharge in 1963. He married Linda Kindlesparker on December 4, 1965 in Aurora, IL. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Michigan State and his master’s degree was through UW Superior. Ken was a Chemistry & General Science teacher at Tomahawk High School from 1974 until his retirement in 1992. He also served as assistant wrestling coach for THS. Prior to moving to Tomahawk, Ken was a Sr. Control Chemist at Armour and Company, Aurora, Illinois from 1963-1968. Ken and Lin owned and operated Terrace View Campsites since 1968. He was known as N9JTO Hamm radio operator as well as a Security Officer at St. Regis Paper Mill, 1968-1970 in Rhinelander. He was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church and served as the Secretary of the Men’s Club. Fellowships with friends, camper families, fishing buddies and special visits from past students, along with his church, all highlighted his life.
Ken is survived by his wife- Lin, of Tomahawk; his daughter- Susan Miller; and 2 Granddaughters- Micquella (Joshua) Sheetz, Pennsylvania, & Taylor Ann Miller. He is further survived by his brother, Joe (Susan) Kenworthy, of Georgia, many very special nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by a brother, Larry.
The Memorial Service with Military Rites for Ken Kenworthy will take place at Redeemer Lutheran Church, Tomahawk, at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 1, 2016. Pastor Mark Gass will officiate. Friends may gather from 10:30 a.m. until the time of services at 11:00 a.m. at Redeemer.
All are welcome, as well, to the Inurnment of Ken’s cremains on Tuesday, August 23rd, 9:30 a.m. at Restlawn Memorial Park, in Wausau.
