Kenneth Kurtzweil age 69, W5162 Selmer Road, Tomahawk, passed away Sunday, December 27, 2009 at home surrounded by his family. Ken was born March 10, 1940 in Wausau, the son of Lawrence and Helen (Jesse) Kurtzweil. Ken was raised in the Wausau area, and was a 1958 graduate of Newman High School. Following graduation, he entered the U.S. Army, serving in Metz, France until 1962. He owned and operated Kurtzweil Builders, later known as Kurtzweil Construction until 2004. Ken was very artistic and used his talents to assist local businesses and snowmobile clubs with designs and logos. His favorite, since he had such a great sense of humor, was sketching caricatures of his friends. Ken loved snowmobiling, and was instrumental in organizing the Northwoods Riders Snowmobile Club, serving as president from its origin in the early 90's. He was also on the board of directors for the Northwoods Passage Snowmobile Club. Ken was an active member of the Wausau Elks, Moose Lodge, the American Legion, and St. Mary Catholic Church in Tomahawk. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends. Survivors include: Wife Colleen Kurtzweil Tomahawk Daughter Jodie (Don) Connor Rothschild Son Randy Kurtzweil Schofield 2 sisters Nancy Ott Scottsdale, Arizona Pat (Richard) Bauer Paradise Valley, Arizona 1 brother Roger Kurtzweil Wausau Ken is further survived by 2 grandchildren - Lindsey Connor and Ryan (Jamie) Connor. He was preceded in death by his parents, 4 sisters, and 2 brothers. Funeral Services with Military Rites for Ken Kurtzweil will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 30, 2009 from Krueger Family Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on Wednesday at the funeral home from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of services at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in the spring at Greenwood Cemetery in Tomahawk.
