Kurt F. Winter, 76, of Tannery Road, Tomahawk, passed away unexpectedly, Monday, April 2, 2018 at his home.
Kurt was born January 6, 1942 in West Bend, Indiana to Franklin and Vera Winter. They moved to Tomahawk when Kurt was 3 years old. He graduated from Tomahawk High School in 1960 as a member of the first class to graduate from the new school. He attended Marquette University and UW Madison. He earned 6 different masters degrees. Kurt enlisted in the US Air Force in 1966. He flew both helicopters and F16 Fighter jets in Viet Nam, Cambodia, and Thailand. Kurt retired from military service as a Captain in 1986. He lived in Tucson, Arizona until coming back home in 2006. In addition to being an avid reader, Kurt was one of the founding members of the Kwahamot Ski Club in 1969 and served as the original boat driver.

Kurt is further survived by many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Franklin and Vera Winter, Step mother, Marie Bodenbach, and a sister, Caroline Wallace.
Graveside services with Military rites for Kurt Winter will be held at the Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery at Spooner. The date and time will be announced. Krueger Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services is assisting the Winter family with arrangements.
