LARRY EDWARD HETTLER
Larry E. Hettler, 80, Town of Prentice died on Friday, August 12, 2016 in Prentice.
He was born on January 6, 1936, in Catawba, the son of Frank and Weeta (Conner) Hettler .He attended school in Prentice. He then worked on the family farm until he entered military service. He served his country in the U.S. Army from 1959 to 1960 in Korea.
He was married to Gladys Bezrouch on September 14, 1963, in Phillips. He was employed by the Town of Prentice in highway maintenance and then worked at the former Prentice Hydraulics, Prentice, and a self-employed logger for many years until the time of his retirement in 1998.
He was am member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Prentice, and the Southern Price County VFW Post #8491. In his free time he was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing, putting jigsaw puzzles together, picking all types of berries and in the winter shoveling snow.
He is survived by his wife Gladys, Prentice, by 3 daughters: Erin (Frank) Plyer, Prentice, Jean (Andy) Houzenga, Poplar Grove, Ill., and Leslie (Fiance Mark Radke) Listle, Marshfield, by 9 grandchildren, 1 brother Robert “Bud” Schrader, Marshfield, by 1 sister Doris Klemetson, Abbotsford and by 2 half brothers: Clinton and Gene Kemmerling
He was preceded in death by his grandparents who helped to raise him as a child, Lawrence and Julina Whitby, and by his parents, Frank and Weeta Hettler.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, August 16, 2016, at 11:00 A.M. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Prentice with Fr. Gerald Hagen and Deacon James Celba officiating. Inurnment will be in the St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Phillips. Military Honors will be conducted by the Southern Price County VFW Post #8491.
Friends may call after 9:30 A.M. on Tuesday, August 16, 2016, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Prentice until the time of the service .
The Heindl Funeral Home, Prentice is in charge of the arangements.
