Funeral services for Laura Bohmert, 95, will be held Saturday, September 22, 2012 at 2:00 pm at Davis Funeral Home in Riverton, WY. Burial will follow at the Mountain View Cemetery. Laura died September 8, 2012 in Woodruff, WI. She was born April 11, 1917, in Deerfield, Ill, daughter of Robert H. and Laura (Miller) Kirk. She graduated from High School in Lamesa, Texas and attended college at Fort Worth, TX, where she excelled on the debate team. Later she attended CWC in Riverton, WY. In 1939, she married Charles Bohmert in Lamesa, Texas. She was widowed in 1977. Later, in 1980, she married Tony Hernandez in Riverton, WY. She has lived in Texas, New York City, Buffalo, New York, Omaha, Nebraska, LaGrange, Illinois, Rockford, Illinois, Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin and Riverton, Wyoming. Laura moved to Riverton in 1968 where she lived for 39 years. She loved Wyoming and said it was like Texas, but with mountains. For the last 5 years, Laura has lived with her daughter, Gretchen and husband Ted. Laura, in Riverton, worked at the Riverton Ranger. Then got a job at the United States Geologic Survey office, which she thoroughly enjoyed until her retirement at age 69. As a labor of love and faith she acted as secretary/treasurer for the Way of the Cross Assembly of God Church and also the state secretary/treasurer for the Gideons (Women’s Activities). She was a member of the Gideons International. Laura loved music and played the violin. She enjoyed sewing and loved traveling with Tony. Many remember her for her great faith and joy in the Lord. She taught her children that happiness was a choice you make daily. Laura Bohmert- Hernandez is survived by her son, Charles F. Bohmert III of Arbor Vitae, WI; daughters, Gretchen Voigt and her husband, Ted of Woodruff, WI, Roberta Barghelame and her husband, Saeed of Woodinville, WA, and Lisa Bohmert-Jordan and her husband, Sy of Salinas, CA; brother, Robert Kirk and wife, Hazel of Bradford, PA; 9 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
