LaVONNE ELLA VEVERKA
LaVonne E. "Lou" Veverka, 86, Phillips, died on Wednesday, January 20, 2016, at the Aspirus Pleasant View Nursing Home, Phillips.
She was born on July 30, 1929 at Stanley, North Dakota, the daughter of Roy and Ella (Holte) Wendelin.
She made her home in Phillips with her first husband William Thompson, Sr. in 1973. They later divorced. She was then married to Stanley Veverka on April 4, 1981, in Elgin, Ill. She was employed by the Price County Sheriff’s Department as a bail officer
and matron for over 19 years prior to her retirement. She was a volunteer at Aspirus Pleasant View Nursing Home after her retirement.
She is survived by her loving husband Stanley, Phillips, by 3 children: Bill (Judy) Thompson, Oregon, Wi., Lynn (Dave) Kruchten, Verona, Wi., and Dave (Dorothy) Thompson, Richland Center, Wi., by 3 Step Children: Jerry, Mike, and Mark Veverka, all of Phillips, by 6 grandchildren: Terri (Curtis) Mikkelson, Brooklyn, Wi., Kent (Jenni) Thompson, Oregon, Wi., Kurt Thompson, Colorado, Alicia (Mike) Wamhoff, Waunakee, Wi., Michael Kruchten, Cross Plains, Wi., and Angie (Jim) Whitacre, Jamesburg, NJ., by 1 step grandchildren Sabrina Veverka, Phillips, by 11 great grandchildren: Samatha, Emily and Tyler Mikkelson, Elnora and Greta Thompson, Alivia Thompson, Justin, Veronia and John Whitacre, and Reagan and Charlotte Wamhoff.
She was preceded in death by her parents, by her sister Edith Burgess, by 2 brothers Arnold and Donald Wendelin and by 1 son Kent Thompson.
Lou requested that no visitation or funeral service were to be held.
Inurnment will be at a later date next to her parents in Richland Center.
The Heindl Funeral Home, Phillips, is in charge of the arrangements.
