Leon E Christiansen, age 70, Tomahawk ( formerly of Green Bay and Iola) passed away peacefully on Saturday May 21, 2016 at Aspirus Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Leon was born in Estherville, IA on Sept 5, 1945 to Ernest Christiansen and Lucille (Theesfield) Christiansen. When Leon was 8 they moved to Iola, WI where he grew up and graduated from Iola High School. He attended college at Stevens Point and Badger Business College in Green Bay. In 1967 he married Sue Timm. They had 2 children and later divorced. Lee worked as an accountant for Super Valu Foods in Green Bay for approximately 20 years. In 1986 he married Janice Anthony in Weyauwega, WI. They left Green Bay to go to Tomahawk where he owned a grocery store for a while. Before his retirement Leon worked for Petco in Wausau. Lee was very active in the Tomahawk Lions Club, holding many offices including President. Leon then extended his Lions service to the district as District Governor of 27-C2 in 2011-2012. Leon then served as a Director of the Wisconsin Lions Foundation 2013-2016. Leon is survived by his loving wife Janice; Two children: Craig (Lisa) Christiansen, Pulaski, Jennifer Skytta (Mike Hrubesky), Freedom; Four grandchildren: Joey Faulhaber, Carolann Faulhaber, Grace Christiansen, and Paige Christiansen; Brother, Ernest Christiansen, Iola; Sister, JoAnn (Doug) Lytle, Iola; Mother-in-law, Elaine Anthony, Weyauwega; Brother-in-law, James Anthony (Lori Schmidt), New London His special canine companions Molly and Joy. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Colleen Sykes Smith; brothers-in-law: Don Sykes and David Bestul; sister-in-law Nancy Christiansen; 2 stepfathers and a stepbrother. Funeral Services for Leon Christiansen will be held on Wednesday, May 25, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. from Grace Lutheran Church in Tomahawk. Pastor Mark Ziemer will officiate. The family will receive friends at the Krueger Family Funeral Home on Tuesday from 4 until 7 p.m. and at the church on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of services. Burial will be at the Oakwood Cemetery, Weyauwega, WI. Memorials may be directed to Grace Lutheran Church, Tomahawk, or the WI Lions Foundation, Rosholt, WI.
