Leona Nadboralski, age 89, Tomahawk, passed away Thursday, March 13, 2014 at Golden Living Center - Riverview in Tomahawk.
Leona was born January 14, 1925 in Milwaukee, the daughter of Leo and Lottie Pospyhalla. She married Steve Nadboralski on June 27, 1942 in Milwaukee; he passed away on January 31, 1988. Leona worked for the U.S. Post Office in Milwaukee for seventeen years. She became a permanent resident of Tomahawk in 1971 and was employed as an EMT at Sacred Heart Hospital. She and her husband formerly owned and operated the Polish Ponderosa on Lake Alice. Leona was a caregiver for her grandchildren and great grandchildren, and was often seen pushing a stroller on the sidewalks of Tomahawk. She was a very faithful and active member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Tomahawk, where she served the Liturgical Ministry as a reader, a Eucharistic Minister, and as a member of both the Parish Choir and the Resurrection Choir. She also participated in the Deacon program, was a member of the Prayer Shawl Ministry, and was a member of the Sisters of the Sorrowful Mother Associates. She ran the Latchkey Program at St. Mary's School for many years. One of her fondest memories was singing on the stage at Carnegie Hall on her 86th birthday.
Survivors include: children, Leslie (Patty) Nadboralski, Tomahawk, Leigh (Mike) Loka, Tomahawk; sisters, Lorraine Jakubowski, Milwaukee, Virginia Rogalski, Vista, California; thirteen grandchildren: Bobby (Peggy) Nadboralski, Cindy (Chris) Curtis, Mike (Kelly) Nadboralski, Nick (Elise) Nadboralski, Amanda Nadboralski, Dean Nadboralski, Dave Nadboralski, Deanna Nadboralski, Mickey (Sarah) Loka, Steve (Kathryn) Loka, Adam (Renee) Loka, Sara (Jason) Carstensen, and Alex (Shannon Graeber) Loka. Leona is further survived by fifteen great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband - Steve, son - Dale, and two great grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Leona Nadboralski will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, March 17, 2014 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Tomahawk. Father John Anderson will officiate. The family will receive friends at the church on Monday from 9:00 AM until the hour of Mass at 11:00 AM. Burial will be in the spring at Calvary Cemetery in Tomahawk.
