LEONARD A FRANCE
Leonard A. France 94, Phillips, died on Monday, April 30, 2018, at the Aspirus Pleasant View Nursing Home, Phillips.
He was born on November 9, 1923, in Wessington Springs, South Dakota, the son of Jerry and Eliza (Fitzgerald) France.
He came to the Phillips with his family as a child. He attended and graduated from Phillips High School, Class of 1941. He was married to Charlotte Searl on August 13, 1955, in Tomahawk. She preceded him in death on March 31, 2003.
He was employed by the Price County Highway Department for over 40 years retiring in 1989.
He was active within the community as a member of Our Saviors Episcopal Church, Lugervile, the Phillips Lions Club, the Chaparral Snowmobile Club, the Loyal Order of Moose, the Big Brothers of Price County, and as a volunteer for the Hospice.
He was especially proud of a letter of commendation he received from President Nixon for service on the Price County Draft Board.
He is survived by his grandchildren: Virginia Bravatto, Hurley, Wi., Amy (Gary) Riesing, and Elizabeth (Erik) Owan, by 2 great grandchildren: Max and Casey Riesing,
all of Milwaukee.
He was preceded in death by his parents, by his wife Charlotte, by a daughter Jacqueline Wroblewski and by his brother Bill.
The funeral service will be held at 12:00 Noon on Saturday, May 5, 2018, at Our Savior Episcopal Church, Lugerville, with Fr. William Radant officiating. Interment will be in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Phillips, Friends may call from 11:00 A.M. at the church until the time of the service.
The Heindl Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
