Leonard J. “Skip” Skrobot Jr., age 69 of Manitowish Waters, WI died on Thursday, December 19th in Marshfield, WI. Skip was born on April 21, 1944 in Wausau, WI. Skip attended Lakeland Union High School and UW-Superior. He married Debra Ann Lerch on April 26, 1975. Skip worked for Allis Chalmers in West Allis until he moved to the Northwoods full-time and became a self-employed family contractor. Skip was the Fire Chief for 25 years of the Manitowish Waters Fire Company. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, motorcycling, snowmobiling, boating and reloading. He especially loved spending time with Family and Friends. Skip was a big lovable Teddy Bear with a heart of Gold and was always willing to help anyone in need, “With this hand and these fingers.” Skip is survived by his wife, Debra and 2 Children: Robert “Bob” Skrobot and Jennifer Thoma and by Grandchildren; Christopher, Eric and Owen Thoma and by his Sister, Barbara (Mark) Simon and by many loving nieces and nephews and the “Big Brown Dog” and sometimes Frank. He was preceded in death by his parents; Jake and Betty Skrobot and two of his best buddies; Wayne Kwaitkowski and Ed Komos. Memorial Mass will be held on Monday, December 23rd at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Manitowish Waters, WI with a gathering from 9:00 AM till 11:00 AM at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Manitowish Waters Fire Company or North Lakeland Ice Inc.
