LeRoy 'Roy' Ewert, age 95, Tomahawk, passed away Saturday, April 20, 2013 at Golden Living Center - Riverview in Tomahawk under the care of Aseracare Hospice.
Roy was born July 9, 1917 in Milwaukee, the son of August and Mathilda (Laabs) Ewert. He married Dorothy Boldt on March 9, 1940 in Milwaukee; she passed away April 5, 2011. Roy worked as a machinist at Allis Chalmers in West Allis and Nordberg's in Milwaukee for many years. He later worked in the shipping department for TOPS in Milwaukee. Following his retirement in 1978, he moved to Sun City, Arizona, where he lived until moving to Tomahawk in 2008. Roy loved music and was a professional drummer, playing big band music in various bands.
Survivors include his son, Ron (Sharon) Ewert of Tomahawk, grandsons, Michael Ewert and David Ewert, both of Wichita, Kansas, and step grandchildren, Jim Herrel, Kurt Herrel, and Kristen Fletcher. Roy is further survived by eight great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.
A Memorial Service for Roy Ewert will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 26, 2013 at Redeemer Ev. Lutheran Church in Tomahawk. Rev. Mark Gass will officiate. The family will receive friends at the church on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of services at 11:00 a.m.
