Les Thompson, age 78, 15 Pine Ridge Lane, Tomahawk, passed away Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at Sacred Heart Hospital in Tomahawk.
Les was born June 20, 1933 in Tomahawk, the son of Martin and Florence (Arneson) Thompson. He was a Graduate of Tomahawk High School and had been a standout basketball player for the Hatchets and later with the Pointers at UW Stevens Point. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, where he was proud to say he was baptized and confirmed, and later married to Sue Fuller on October 19, 1957. Les owned and operated Les's Standard in Tomahawk for 33 years, and The Gift Box in Tomahawk for 20 years, retiring in 2005. Les also enjoyed golfing, and was a member at Maple Birch and later Edgewater Country Club for many years.

Les was preceded in death by his parents, brother - Harold, and sister - Natalie Fitze.
Funeral Services for Les Thompson will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 5, 2011 from Grace Lutheran Church in Tomahawk. The family will receive friends at Krueger Family Funeral Home on Tuesday, October 4th from 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m., and again at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of services at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Tomahawk.
