Leslie "Les" J. Lynd, age 79, of Tomahawk, passed away on Saturday, August 22, 2009 at Sacred Heart Hospital in Tomahawk. He was born March 8, 1930 in Kewanee, Illinois to the late Clarence and Bernice Lynd. Les served in the United States Army. He was married to Rose E. Mewes on May 26, 1950 in Chicago, Illinois; she survives. Les worked for the Pennsylvania Railroad in Chicago for many years. He was a long time resident of the Tomahawk area. He owned and operated the Echo Valley Resort for 20 years. He was a former member of the American Legion in Chicago. He enjoyed collecting trains, working with his tractor at home, working on jigsaw puzzles, and attending his Great Grandchildren's events. Survivors include his Wife, Rose E. Lynd of Tomahawk, 1 Daughter, Rose L. (Ervin Walkowksi) Lynd of Tomahawk, 3 Grandchildren, locally a Granddaughter, Rose (Craig) Voigt of Merrill, 3 Great Grandchildren, Amanda, Matthew, and Megan, all of Merrill, 3 Sisters, Wanda (Lee) Earp of Sparta, Tennessee, Nancy Lynd of Sandwich, Illinois, Laura Mae Ford of Loma Linda, CA, and a Sister-in-law and Brother-in-law, LaVerne and Al Spera of Yorkville, Illinois. Les is further survived by many Nieces and Nephews. He was preceded in death by his Parents, 1 Son, Leslie R. Lynd, 2 Brothers, 3 Sisters, and His Mother-in-law and Father-in-law, Rose and Fred Mewes. Funeral Services for Leslie "Les" J. Lynd will be held Wednesday, August 26, 2009 at 11 AM from the Krueger Funeral Home in Tomahawk. Pastor Ross Nelson will officiate with Interment to follow at the Greenwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday August 25 from 4 PM until 8 PM, and again on Wednesday from 10 AM until the time of services at 11.
