Lilly Strauss, age 82, a long-time Tomahawk resident, passed away Sunday, September 29, 2013 in Rhinelander.
Lilly was born August 23, 1931 to Walter and Lillie Roloff. She married Anton Strauss on May 9, 1951 in Fort Sill, Oklahoma. Lilly worked as a registered nurse at Pine Crest Nursing Home in Merrill. She enjoyed gardening, knitting, crocheting, baking, and making rag rugs. She dedicated her life and worship to Jehovah God. Before moving to Rhinelander, she was a member of the Merrill congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses.
Survivors include: children, Lynn (Ron) Day, Amarillo, Texas, Tony Strauss, Rhinelander, Laurie (Tom) Smith, Rhinelander, sister, Marie Klemencic, Rice Lake. Other survivors are four grandchildren and three great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Graf and Mac, and one sister, Arlene; her husband - Anton, and a daughter - Joy.
A Memorial Service for Lilly will be held on October 8, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 200 Chippewa Dr., across from the YMCA (Hwy 17), in Rhinelander. The family will receive friends at the Kingdom Hall on the day of service from 5:00 p.m. until the hour of services. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery in Tomahawk.
