Lloyd Leon Boneck peacefully passed away on Sunday October 13, 2024 on a beautiful fall day in the Northwoods at the age of 92. Lloyd was a treasured husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. He was also a decorated veteran who served as an Army Medic in the Korean War in the 65th Infantry Regiment, 3d Infantry Division from 1952-1953.
Lloyd was born on January 2, 1932 in Milwaukee, WI to Lloyd and Agnes of West Allis. He was the oldest of four boys. He attended West Allis Hale High School, played catcher for semi-pro baseball and played lead trumpet in his own band. In 1951, he joined the Army and was sent to fight in the Korean War, making the rank of Sergeant First Class and receiving two Bronze Star Medals, one with Valor. Upon returning home, he married his high school friend and war-time pen pal, Delores Barbara Krotts on July 3rd, 1954. They settled in Waukesha, WI where they raised their three children: Perry, Jeffrey and Robin. Lloyd got a job at Krueger printing company as a pressman, eventually becoming the pressroom superintendent. He then became a salesman for Sun Chemical until he retired in 1994.
After retirement, Lloyd and his wife Barb moved up to Manitowish Waters, to live on Little Star Lake and enjoy the Northwoods on a full-time basis. Lloyd was a lifelong hunter, having grown up hunting with his dad, brothers and cousins in Crivitz, WI. He was also an avid musky fisherman, even winning the World Champion Musky Classic in 1990. As a member of Trout Lake Golf Course, he spent as much time as possible golfing with his friends and with Barb. He was also an active member of the Manitowish Waters Community Church and sang in the choir up until a few months before his death. Lloyd and Barb also wintered in Destin, FL where they spent their time golfing, eating at their favorite restaurants, meeting up with friends and soaking up some sun.
Lloyd is survived by his brother: Gary Boneck; his children: Perry (Sue) Boneck, Jeff (Mary) Boneck and Robin (Scott) McCormick. He will also be dearly missed by his grandchildren: Shannon (Kyle) Trimble, Ryan (Leah) Boneck, Erin Boneck, Hilary (Zach) Griswold, Holly (Christian) Boneck, Kyle (Melissa) McCormick, Aaron (Tess) McCormick, Kevin (Lenaya) McCormick and Emily (Matt) Gabrielse, as well as his sixteen great-grandchildren.
