Lloyd G. Mitchell, 86, longtime Tomahawk resident passed away Saturday, March 17, 2012 at the Wisconsin Veterans Home in King, Wisconsin where he had lived for the past 3 years. Lloyd was born on December 4, 1925 in Tomahawk to Lloyd E. and Otellia (Welk) Mitchell. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the US Army. He was the recipient of the Purple Heart and Bronze Star. He was united in marriage to Beverly Johannes on April 21, 1951 in Wausau, she preceded him in death in 2010. Mitch was employed as an accountant at the Tomahawk Boat Factory and later as Tomahawk Division Manager at Harley Davidson. He retired in 1981. He had served on the Board of Directors for Tomahawk Community Bank and the Tomahawk Area Corporation. He was an avid coin and stamp collector, and for 20 years, while wintering in Arizona, he enjoyed searching for gold in the desert. He had been a member of the Maple Birch Thursday Night Golf League, and a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church, and he enjoyed singing. Survivors include: 3 Sons, Jeffrey (Cathy) Mitchell Wausau Steven (Laurie) Mitchell Tomahawk Mark (Sandi) Mitchell Atlanta, Georgia Mitch is further survived by 9 Grandchildren and 2 Great Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Bev. Funeral Services with Military rites for Lloyd G. Mitchell will be held on Saturday, March 24, at 11:00 a.m. from the United Methodist Church. Rev. Allen Christensen will officiate. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery, Tomahawk. The family will receive friends at the United Methodist Church Saturday morning from 10 a.m. until the time of services at 11:00. Memorials are appreciated to the United Methodist Church.
