Lois Jean Hoogland, 88, of Catawba, WI, passed away on Saturday, June 10, 2023. Lois was born on January 5, 1935, to John and Selma (Ohrstron) Morison, in Deerwood, Minnesota.
She attended Riverton Grade School and Crosby-Ironton High School, graduating in 1952. She worked at Northrup King from August 1952 to August 1956. She married Jerome "Jerry" Hoogland on August 18, 1956, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Catawba, and was an active partner in farming for 39 years. They would both retire in 1995. Lois served on the FHA committee from 1984 to 1994. She was an active member of the St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church and taught catechism at both churches for many years. Lois was a member of the St. Ann's society at the church and was involved with several other duties and activities to help the church function. She was a loving and hardworking woman who would milk cows, bail hay, make beautiful quilts, and seamstress, so others could go hunting, fishing, and racing. Lois and Jerry were avid snowmobilers and were founding members of the Driftsplitters Snowmobile Club.
Lois is survived by her children, Jeff (Lori), Julie (Tom) Teeters, Anna (Daniel) Macholl, Jennifer (John) Krell, Bennett, Colin (Jill), Jack (Tina), and Janine (Troy) Jablonsky; 34 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; siblings, Janine Willett and Tootsie Flor; sisters-in-law, Kay Marlenga and Bonnie Morison.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Jerry; parents, father and mother-in-law, John and Anna Hoogland; siblings, Percy, Booker, Nolan, Lyla, and Evelyn.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, June 13, 2023, at the St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, W9485 US-8, Catawba, WI 54515, with Father Lourdu Raju Madanu officiating. Visitation will be held from 5p.m. to 7p.m. the night prior on Monday, June 12, 2023, with the Rosary beginning at 7p.m. Visitation will also be held the morning of the service from 9:30 a.m. until the beginning of mass. Burial will be in the Catawba Cemetery, Catawba, WI. Heindl-Nimsgern Funeral Home is assisting the family.
