Lyle Roberts, age 80, of Tomahawk, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, August 23, 2016 at Aspirus Hospital in Wausau.
Lyle was born on July 3, 1936 in Spirit Falls to James & Mary (Beighly) Roberts. He was married on February 16, 1957 to Celiann Van Harpen in Tomahawk. Together, they had 4 children. Lyle spent nine years with the National Guard. He worked at O-I as a maintenance millwright and packaging specialist for over 42 years, and retired in 1986. He was also a past Town of Tomahawk’s supervisor. Lyle was an avid fisherman, hunter, trapper and woodworker. Lyle was proud to share his love for hunting with his family and bought each grandchild their first hunting rifle. He played horseshoes and watched old westerns. For four years, he had Lyle’s Live Bait Shop in his garage and also sold Christmas trees. Lyle will be remembered as a captivating story teller and a giving man, always lending a helping hand to all of his neighbors and family.
Lyle is survived by his loving wife, Ceil Roberts; his children, Brent (Lisa) Roberts, Brian (Dawn) Roberts & Dee (Andy) Bartz; daughter-in-law, Terri Roberts, all of Tomahawk; Brother, Clint (Jeannie) Roberts, of Menasha; and 8 Grandkids, Zachary, Lacy, Erin, Tucker, Travis, Derek, Amanda & Brock. Lyle is further survived by 12 great grandchildren with one expected in September. He is preceded in death by his parents, son, Bruce, & 14 brothers and sisters.
The Mass of Christian Burial for Lyle will take place at 11:00AM on Wednesday, August 31, 2016 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Tomahawk. The family will receive friends at the Krueger Family Funeral Home on Tuesday, August 30th from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM. Visitation will continue at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 AM until the hour of Mass at 11:00 AM. Burial will be at Spirit Hillcrest Cemetery in the Town of Spirit.
