Marilyn Norine Miller, child of God, on loan to us for 96 years was received back by her Creator and Redeemer on January 26, 2018. She was born August 19, 1921 to Earl and Bernice Zimmerman of Freeport, Illinois. Marilyn married Ralph (Bud) Miller in 1942 and they were married for 59 years. Together they raised their three sons in Brown Deer, Wisconsin until moving to Arbor Vitae, Wisconsin in 1997. Bud predeceased Marilyn in 2001. She was and remains the greatly beloved mother of Mark (Janet) Miller, Scott (Phyllis) Miller, and Todd (Karen) Miller, and admired grandmother of Chad (Uyen), Stacy (Tim), Katherine (Stephen), Jennifer, Keitra, Eric (Sadie), Brooke (Matt), and Micah; and great-grandmother of 10.
She was a strong-willed lady whose sole avocation and life’s devotion was to her “boys” and extended family as it grew with daughters-in-law, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She worked for 16 years as a bookkeeper for the Red Owl Food Store in Brown Deer, WI to send her boys to college. She could easily lure her grown children back home with her steak and spaghetti dinners filled with lively and humorous conversation topped off with a freshly baked black raspberry pie. Marilyn possessed a sparkle for life and was known for her sharp wit, sense of humor, warm smile and joyous laughter.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church of the Pines in Minocqua, WI and until the age of 95 volunteered to ring the bells for the Salvation Army at Christmastime, and sold poppies for the VFW in the spring. In addition, she is survived by her sister Myrna Seuring of Lena, Illinois; favorite cousin Hellen Hafen of Monroe, WI, and nephews and nieces.
A Celebration of Life for Marilyn-“A Legacy of Laughter and Love” will be scheduled this summer when the extended family and friends will gather. The family wishes to thank the staff at Milestone and Ministry Home Care for their care and support of this cherished and treasured lady in her final days.
