Marjorie Winifred (Strobel, Jackson) LaDue (99 years old) was born on December 30, 1922, in Rochester, New York, to Jacob and Marjorie Strobel. Marjorie passed away early on the morning of February 22, 2022 at Lakeshore Assisted Living where she made her home for the past four years. She was the third of seven children. In 1943 she married Elton Jackson, who tragically died in November 1944, in the service of his country. On August 14, 1948 she married Paul Russell LaDue, also of Rochester, and two sons were born to this couple, Mark and then Michael. She was instrumental in raising and teaching her boys, and very proud as they succeeded in school. Marge worked for many years for Illinois Bell Telephone. She started as a switchboard operator and worked her way up to district secretary.
Marge was very industrious, independent and motivated. She loved life and people, and had an adventurous spirit about her. In her later years, she enjoyed fishing in Wisconsin and Minnesota. When she saw a lake she’d say, “I’d love to drop a line in”. When Marge moved to Woodruff, Wisconsin, in 1986, she really found her niche in life. She loved the Northwoods, hiking the trails, going to numerous meetings and making her home cozy. She loved working in her yard, planting and tending the flowers.
Her family and many friends will miss her. Left to cherish her memory is her two sons: Mark (Donna) LaDue and Michael LaDue; two grandsons, Christopher (Theresa) LaDue and Scott (Ashley) LaDue and seven great grandchildren; Jennifer, Ethan, Bethany, Timothy, Abigail, Charis and David. Also, numerous nieces and nephews on the Strobel side of the family. Marge was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Jack, Richard and Donald plus three sisters, Ruth, Shirley and Thelma; and husbands Elton Jackson and Paul LaDue.
Memorial Service for Marjorie will be held on Friday, September 2nd at 4:00 pm at Nimsgern Funeral Home Chapel with a reception to follow and then inurnment at Sunset Memorial Cemetery in Arbor Vitae, WI.
