Martin Uttech, age 88, N10124 Pine Shore Lane, Tomahawk, passed away Thursday, January 28, 2010 at Golden Living Center - Riverview in Tomahawk.
Martin was born September 25, 1921 in Merrill, the son of August and Martha (Hartwig) Uttech. Martin was raised in the Merrill area, and was a 1940 graduate of Merrill High School. He joined the U.S. Navy, and served in WWII. On January 18, 1942 he married Irene Natzke in Merrill. Martin and Irene moved to Wausau in 1945, and lived there until moving to Tomahawk in 1985. He was an Optician with American Optical until his retirement in 1983. Martin was a member of the American Legion and Redeemer Ev. Lutheran Church in Tomahawk. He was a former Boy Scout - Scout Master. He was a very active member and former Financial Secretary for Zion Lutheran Church in Wausau. Martin enjoyed spending time at the Tomahawk Senior Center, fishing, and woodworking - even selling his work to Ben Franklin in Tomahawk.

Martin is further survived by 10 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 brother, and 2 sisters.
Funeral Services for Martin Uttech will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 2, 2010 from Redeemer Ev. Lutheran Church in Tomahawk. A Military Tribute will precede the service. Rev. Mark Gass will officiate. The family will receive friends at the church on Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of services at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in the spring at Greenwood Cemetery in Tomahawk.
