Marvin Kenneth Lauritsen, age 90, died September 19, 2020 at Season’s of Life Hospice House in Woodruff, WI. He was born at home on August 27, 1930 to Jens and Mary Lauritsen. Jen’s, a Danish immigrant, owned a small farm in Mann Hollow in the Loess Hills west of Moorhead, Iowa. In 1951, he married Norma Jean Christensen, daughter of Meddie and Tenus Christensen of Moorhead, Iowa.
Marv served 4 years in the U.S. Air Force in Japan and South Korea. After completing his forestry degree at the Iowa State University, he was employed with the U.S. Forest service for 31 years, during which time he served as Supervisor of the Chippewa, Ottawa, and Cherokee National Forests. Marv and Norma Jean had three children; Terry, Susan and Tammy. He was preceded in death by his son Terry 1954-2002, his parents Mary and Jens and his older brother Roy Lauritsen. He is survived by his wife, Norma Jean, daughters Susan (Larry) Elrod and Tammy (Kurt) Behrendt and grandchildren Adam Lauritsen, Teshia Elrod, Landon Whitlow and Logan Whitlow.
Cremation took place and private family services will be held.
