Mary Andrashie

Mary E. Andrashie, age 89, 2100 E. 6th St., Merrill, passed away April 27, 2010 at Pine Crest Nursing Home in Merrill. Mary was born October 26, 1920 in Ironwood, Michigan, the daughter of Matthew and Helen (Murra) Tomac. She graduated in 1939 from Luther L. Wright High School, in Ironwood, Michigan. She married Andrew Andrashie on April 27, 1940 in Ironwood, Michigan. They celebrated 60 years of marriage on April 27th 2000; he passed away September 10, 2000. Mary formerly lived in Ironwood, Michigan and Illinois before moving to Tomahawk in 1970. She and her husband owned and operated Andy's Eastside Standard Station in Tomahawk from 1970 - 1975. She was also a cook at various restaurants and at Tomahawk Child Care Center. She enjoyed gardening, reading, cooking, and spending time with her family - especially her grandchildren. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Tomahawk, where she served as past president of the former St. Mary's Women's Club. Survivors include: Sons Tony (Mary) Andrashie Wausau Andy (Jane) Andrashie Irma Mike (Dai) Andrashie Fond du Lac Daughters Mary Beth (Chuck) Teal Tomahawk Ann Marie Ducommun Tomahawk Daughter-in-law Marge Andrashie Ironwood, Michigan Sister Lolly (Bud) Rattan Rainbow, California Brother Anthony Tomac Detroit, Michigan Mary is further survived by 15 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter - Andrea in 1943, husband - Andrew in 2000, son - John in 2007, and 2 sisters, Stephanie Vaughan and Francis Kosuth. Funeral Services for Mary Andrashie will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 1, 2010 from Krueger Family Funeral Home. Fr. Edward Powell will officiate. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of services at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Tomahawk.
