Mary Lou Dunbar, 82, Phillips, died on Saturday, May 21, 2016, at her home surrounded by her family. She was born on February 19, 1934, in Joliet, Ill., the daughter of Frank and Rose Mary (McCauley) Borio .She spent her early life and schooling in Joliet. She was married to Harold W. Dunbar on July 19, 1952, in Joliet. They made their home in the Philips area in 1961.She was employed as a Headstart Teacher/Director, and known as the Mary Kay Lady who loved helping her clients feel beautiful and as a waitress at Bonnie’s Diner in Phillips.
She was actively involved within St. Therese of Lisieux Catholic Church, the Koinonia Christian Fellowship The Council of Catholic Women and many other community organizations. She volunteered at Aspirus Pleasant View Nursing Home, the St. Vincent DePaul food pantry as well as always being willing to extend a hand to those in need.
In her free time she enjoyed volunteering, spending time with her children and grandchildren, and corresponding with her sponsored children in Guatamala.
She is survived by 7 children: Ray (Erica) Dunbar, Fort Mill, S.C., Peggy (Terry) Johnson, Phillips, Frank (Sonia) Dunbar, Pigeon Forge, Tenn., Jeri (Mike) Johnson, Foley, Minn., George( Julia) Dunbar, Bend, Ore., Kathy (Ron) Konkol, Stevens Point, Wi., Rose (Matt) Lallemont, Tomahawk, 15 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and 4 sisters: Rose Mary Brennan, Bonita Springs, Fla. Patricia (Jerry) Lewandowski, and Jo Ann Stukel, all of Joliet, Ill., and Kay (Roger) Larrick, Rockford, Ill.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Harold on Feb. 21, 2013, by 1 son Harold, by 3 infant children, by her brother Francis Borio, by a granddaughter Marie and by 1 daughter-in-law Louise.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, May 26, 2016, at St. Therese of Lisieux Catholic Church, Phillips, with Fr. Gerald Hagen officiating. Interment will be in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Phillips. Friends may call on Wednesday, May 25, 2016, after
5:30 P.M. at the Heindl Funeral Home, Phillips, where a parish wake service will be held at 7:00 P.M. with Deacon James Celba officiating.
A memorial fund has been established for charities close to her heart.
