Mathew A. Schoone, age 80, W1906 Cty. Rd. D, Tomahawk, died unexpectedly Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at Ministry St. Mary's Hospital in Rhinelander. Matt was born August 5, 1932 in Harrison, the son of Peter and Stella (Janikowski) Schoone. He married the love of his life, Phyllis Oldenberg on February 4, 1956 at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Harrison. Matt was raised in Harrison, and was employed as a machine tender for 40 years with Owens-Illinois in Tomahawk, retiring in 1995. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, and served in Korea. He was a member VFW, American Legion, and the Tomahawk Area Honor Guard. Matt enjoyed logging, fishing, camping, hunting, Nascar, spending time with his grandchildren, and had a special love for his dog - Lucy.

Matt is further survived by 12 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, children - Mark and Marie, brothers - Andrew and Jack, and a sister - Patricia.
A Mass of Christian Burial with Military Rites for Matt Schoone will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 8, 2013 at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Harrison. Fr. John Anderson will officiate. The family will receive friends on Sunday, April 7th from 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at the Krueger Family Funeral Home in Tomahawk, with a Military Rites at 7:30 p.m., and a Vigil Service to follow. Visitation will continue at the church on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of Mass at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be at St. Augustine Cemetery in Harrison.
