Merton Young

Merton Young, age 81, 744 Coey Lane, Tomahawk, passed away August 9, 2009 at Sacred Heart Hospital in Tomahawk. Merton was born June 5, 1928 in Oshkosh, the son of Merald and Clara (Cooper) Young. He married Susan Tobias on January 29, 1948 in Merrill. Merton moved to Tomahawk from Lanark, Illinois in 1988. He was employed with the Milwaukee Railroad for many years, retiring in 1988. Merton enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family. Survivors include: Wife Susan Young Tomahawk 3 daughters Debra (Steve) Wilmot Tomahawk Sandra Young Freeport, Illinois Kathy Young Tomahawk 2 sons Ellis Young Marvin Young both of Tomahawk 2 sisters Luella Henderson Town of Parrish Eileen Lipke Merrill 2 brothers James (Marcie) Young, Sr. Merrill Harland Young Milwaukee 2 step brothers Donald (Judy) Mootz Merrill Larry (Carol) Mootz Savanna, Illinois 2 step sisters Lanora (Chuck) Westberg Manitowoc Rosemary (Larry) Morfey Savanna, Illinois Merton is further survived by several grandchildren, several great grandchildren, several step grandchildren, and several step great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, 4 sons, and 1 daughter. A Graveside Service for Merton Young will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 14, 2009 from the Gleason Cemetery. Pastor Larry Mathein will officiate.
