Mildred 'Millie' Gleisner, age 90, Tomahawk, passed away Wednesday, November 3, 2010 at Golden Living Center - Riverview in Tomahawk, where she resided for the past 7 years.
Millie was born June 11, 1920 in Athens, the daughter of Emil and Anna (Allain) Schroeder. She married Martin J. Gleisner on September 23, 1943 in Tomahawk; he preceded her in death on July 3, 2003. Except for her younger years working as a store clerk, Millie was a homemaker. She enjoyed visits with her daughter, son in law, and 2 grandchildren. Millie also enjoyed writing poetry, and was awarded a "Golden Poet" award in 1992 for her poem entitled "Baby's Daily Visit". She was also known by many for her love of bluebirds, and had quite a collection of bluebird figurines. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Tomahawk. Due to her poor health for many years, she was not a regular "churchgoer", but had a very strong faith in God.

Millie was preceded in death by her husband, brothers Lafayette and Robert, half brother Everette, and half sisters Evelyn, Grace, and Lorraine.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Millie Gleisner will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 6, 2010 from St. Mary Catholic Church in Tomahawk. Fr. John Anderson will officiate. The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of Mass at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Tomahawk.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established in Millie's name. The family would like to thank Millie's doctors through the years for their understanding care, and the staff at Golden Living Center - Riverview.
