Nancy Gail VanMeter

Nancy “Nan” Gail VanMeter, age 76, passed away on January 1, 2024, at Marshfield Medical Center in Minocqua, WI.  She was born August 14, 1947 in Niles, IL, to parents Vern and Petrana Fountaine.

Nan married the love of her life, Byron, in 1973. She worked for the U.S. Postal Service for a number of years. She and her husband owned a bar for 13 years called Van and Nan’s Bar in Woodruff.  She was also a painter.

Nan loved to bird watch, fish, make crafts, flowers of all kinds and the outdoors.  She truly enjoyed spending time with friends in the “Gee Rage” and loved to help with AVFD Fundraisers. 

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother: Tom Fountaine.  Nan is survived by her husband Byron; son: Michael (Amanda) VanMeter; grandchildren: Kaylee Marie VanMeter and one on the way that she was very excited about; brother: Jim (Jane) Fountaine; sister-in-law: Betty Fountaine and other family and good friends.

A Memorial Gathering will be held on Friday, January 12, 2024 from 1:00pm to 3:00pm.  A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00pm.
