Nicholas E. Schiltz, Sr., age 81 of W6551 County Rd. O, Tomahawk, passed away Sunday, December 21, 2008 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital. He was born January 20, 1927 in Stratford, WI to the late Nicholas and Effie Schiltz. He was married to Lorraine M. Hodge on October 19, 1949 in Tomahawk; she survives. He served in the United States Army for four years during the Korean War.
Nicholas and his family moved to the Tomahawk area when he was 3 years old. He was employed at the Owens-Illinois Paper Mill in Tomahawk for 29 years; until his retirement. He was a member of the D.A.V. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, traveling, and especially spending time with his Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren.
Survivors include his Wife, Lorraine Schiltz of Tomahawk, his Son, Nicholas (Marla) Schiltz, Jr. of Tomahawk, his Daughter, Patty (David) Van de Weerd of Tomahawk, 2 Sisters, Laura (Ted) Bruneau of Hazelhurst and Margaret (George) Crafts of Appleton. He is also survived by 5 Grandchildren and 5 Great Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his Parents, 2 Sisters, and 5 Brothers.
Funeral Services for Nicholas Schiltz, Sr. will be held Friday, December 26, 2008 at 11AM from the Krueger & Sons Funeral Home in Tomahawk, with Pastor Terry Carney to officiate. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 10AM until the hour of services at 11. A Military Tribute service will take place immediately before funeral services.
