Norbert A. Baeseman, age 90 of Winchester, WI; our mothers’ husband and our dad was born on June 4, 1931 on the family farm in Winchester, WI. Our Lord took Norb’s hand on October9, 2021, helped him stand and said “your work on earth is finished. Well done, my son. Come home.”
Norbert leaves behind Barbara Vaughn, wife of 65 years, 5 children: Sandra, Dale, Karen, Diane, Jay, their spouses; 12 grandchildren and spouses; 9 great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and so many friends.
Norb was the last of the “old timer” Winchester crew, being born and raised; living, working and passing on in this town he loved. He was very community and family oriented. In 1965, he donated land to the town of Winchester to establish The Winchester Memorial Cemetery and served as president from then until 2019. The cemetery was once again expanded further when needed in 2018 without hesitancy from Norb and Barb.
As a young child, Norb began working with his father doing masonry and continued that as family business with his partner and good friend, Earl Duranso, until retirement. They made many beautiful creations over many years!
From 1976 until 2016, Norb volunteered for the musky classic at the Harris Lake boat landing. He served many years as Winchester town supervisor, town chairman, and received a plaque for his years of service on the town association. Norb volunteered on the fire department and was the president of the Chamber of Commerce for a time.
Norbert really took delight in any adventure that came his way. He loved hunting, fishing, snowmobiling and traveling in the camper to exciting places like Alaska, Canada, Montana and Wyoming.
He found great happiness pushing that snow around with his plow truck for 60+ years and always had a great time building the biggest snowman for the grandchildren in winters.
Always good for a hearty smile, genuine handshake, helping hand (and a good hunting or fishing tale) his was a life well lived and well loved.
Celebration of Life for Norb will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Winchester Fire Department and EMS.
