Norbert Kartz, age 73, N10193 Sunny Point Road, Tomahawk, passed away Thursday, February 19, 2009 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital. Norb was born September 22, 1935 in Milwaukee, the son of Frank and Bessie (Kozmalski) Kartz. He married Carol Rick on May 5, 1956 in Milwaukee. Norb was a maintenance mechanic with Western Electric in Milwaukee for 35 years. He and Carol moved to Tomahawk November 1, 1986. He was a former sexton for Calvary Cemetery. He was a very active member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, where he was formerly a custodian for both the Church and School, and lovingly known as "Mr. Norb". He was past president of the Milwaukee Fire Bell Club, a member of the Knights of Columbus, a former Boy Scout Leader, and former Little League Coach. Norb loved fishing, especially with his grandkids. Norb was a 1954 graduate of Boys' Tech High School in Milwaukee. Norb was in the U.S. Marine Reserves for 8 years. Survivors include: Wife Carol Kartz Tomahawk Daughter Linda (Dave) Ramthun Tomahawk 4 sons Larry (Michele) Kartz Michael (Donna) Kartz both of Wauwatosa Rick (Michelle) Kartz Dan (Sara) Kartz both of Milwaukee Sister Edith Stroik Milwaukee Brother Erv Kartz Brown Deer Norb is further survived by 8 grandchildren - Jason, Nathan, Austin, Makayla, Cecelia, and Louis Kartz, and Emily and Katelyn Ramthun. A Mass of Christian Burial for Norbert Kartz will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 22, 2009 from St. Mary Catholic Church in Tomahawk. Fr. John Anderson will officiate. The family will receive friends at the church on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of Mass at 5:00 p.m. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Tomahawk.
