Norman 'Norm' Langlois, age 91, Tomahawk, passed away Sunday, February 23, 2014 at Golden Living Center - Golden age in Tomahawk under the care of Aseracare Hospice.
Norm was born October 9, 1922 in Tomahawk, one of fourteen children of French and Indian descent born to Archie and Eva (Fluery) Langlois. He was married to Maxine Jester in 1951; she passed away in 1992. He later married Lois Johnson on September 20, 1997 in Tomahawk. Norm attended St. Mary's Catholic School in Tomahawk, and Barber College in Chicago. He owned and operated Langlois Barber Shop in Tomahawk, and between he and his father, had over 100 years of barber service in Tomahawk. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, snowmobiling, skiing, and spending time at the family cottage on Half Moon Lake and his hunting cabin in the Willow area. Norm enjoyed volunteering with the Tomahawk Historical Society. He was a life-long and faithful member of St. Mary Catholic Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus in Tomahawk. Norm had a passion for singing and sang in various barbershop quartets. He could often be heard belting out, "Show Me the Way to Go Home" with full vigor.
Survivors include: wife, Lois Langlois, Tomahawk; children, Michael (Kay) Langlois, Fishers, Indiana, Lynda Langlois, Scottsdale, Arizona, Kay (Scot) Hastings, Tucson, Arizona, Chuck Langlois, Whitefish, Montana, Bill Langlois, Tempe, Arizona, David (Jeanne) Langlois, Denver, Colorado, Elaine (Roger) Bolander, Apache Junction, Arizona; step children, Melvin Johnson, Lower Lake, California, Nancy Sikora, Circle Pines, Minnesota, Keith Johnson, Hoffman Estates, Illinois. Norm is further survived by eight grandchildren - Stephanie, Alyssa & Jessica Hastings, Jeremy & Jamison Langlois, Kelly, Lettie & Maxwell Langlois; and three step grandchildren - Jenna, Kyle & Derrik. He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife - Maxine, grandson - Jared Giddings, and thirteen brothers and sisters.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Norm Langlois will be held at 4:00 PM on Sunday, March 2, 2014 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Tomahawk. The family will receive friends at the church on Sunday from 2:00 PM until the hour of Mass at 4:00 PM. Burial will be in the spring at Calvary Cemetery in Tomahawk.
