Peter J. Matz

Peter Jon Matz, 68, of Saint Germain, WI passed away on Friday, June 19th. He was born on
March 13, 1947 in Savanna, Illinois, the son of Leonard and Ruby Matz. Peter married Ann
Cecile Worthing on April 8, 1989. They shared 26 years of marriage together.
He graduated from Rockford East High School and the University of Montana. Peter taught for
the U.S. Department of Interior, Bureau of Indian Affairs for many years, as well as managed the Pinetop Lakes Association.
He was a member of the Lions Club, Pinetop Volunteer Fire Department, Pinetop Sanitary
District, and Ponderosa Water District. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and loved all things
outdoors. He was also an active member of Shepherd of the Lakes Lutheran Church and
church Firewood Ministry.
Peter was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son and brother. He is survived by his wife,
mother and four daughters: Rachel (James) Culp; Ellyn (Erik) Wehler; Sarah Matz; Holly
(Jimmy) Pettersson. Grandchildren: Peyton, Kayden, Leo and Logan. Siblings: Leonard L.
(Marilyn) Matz; Dennis M. (Ann) Matz; Eric K. (Betsy) Matz; and Timothy P. (Ellen) Matz. Along
with many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father.
Funeral services will be held at 11am on Friday, June 26th at the Shepherd of the Lakes
Lutheran Church, 2903 STH 155, Sayner, WI. Visitation will be from 10 am till time of services at the church. Burial will be at St. Germain Cemetery.
Memorial donations, in lieu of flowers, may be made to the Shepherd of the Lakes Lutheran
Church.
