Phyllis E. Schoone, age 83, of Harrison, passed away unexpectedly at her home on April 4, 2022.
Phyllis was born on December 26, 1938 in the town of Parrish to Robert & True (Raess) Oldenburg. She was a graduate of Parrish Elementary and Rhinelander High School. Phyllis was united in marriage to Mathew A. Schoone on February 4, 1956. He passed away nine years to the day before Phyllis. Matt & Phyllis were Harrison residents for over 60 years. Phyllis loved fishing and four-wheeling. She also enjoyed playing cribbage with Rodney on Thursdays when he would bring her fresh flowers for her centerpiece, puzzles, word-search and trips to the casino. Phyllis loved cooking and picking berries. Phyllis and Matt made many camping trips and bus trips around the country with their good friends Bus & Ruby Schoone. She was a faithful member of St. Augustine Catholic Church in Harrison and was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. Phyllis always enjoyed her afternoon cappuccino, especially if someone was joining her for a cappuccino and a visit!
Phyllis is survived by her children – Dan (Jolynn) Schoone of Tomahawk, Rodney Schoone of Tomahawk, Rena (Art) Buchanan of Tomahawk, Pamela (Bruce) Kalk of Wausau & Roxanne (Craig) Brooks of South Dakota; her sisters – Donna Thorsen of Minnesota and Patricia Hansen of Gleason. Phyllis is further survived by 14 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren and her dog - Lucy. She is preceded in death by her parents, two infant children – Mark & Marie, husband – Mathew, son – Matt, brothers – Dale, Jimmy & Ray Oldenburg and sister – Hope Fisher.
Mass of Christian Burial for Phyllis Schoone will take place at 11AM on Saturday, April 9, 2022 at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Harrison. Visitation will take place at the church from 9AM until the time of Mass at 11AM. Burial will take place in St. Augustine Catholic Cemetery.
