Phyllis J. Schrage, age 88, W6825 Peaceful Valley Road, Tomahawk, passed away Friday, November 15, 2013 at Ministry Sacred Heart Hospital in Tomahawk. Phyllis was born March 18, 1925 in Mukwonago, the daughter of Byron and Helen (Shannon) Spear. She married Harold Schrage on September 3, 1949 in Milwaukee. Phyllis was raised with a respect for valuing education, which continues within the family today. She received her Master of Social Work degree from UW - Madison, and was a social worker in Illinois for 20 years. She was a resident of the Tomahawk area for the past 21 years, and was an active member of the Tomahawk Women's Civic Group and Garden Club. Phyllis shared her love of nature with her children, from identifying the song of different birds, to the many types of flowers and trees along the paths they explored. Her life was focused on the most meaningful and lasting attributes, "raising and nurturing healthy, happy, and responsible children." Her gentleness was the root of her amazing strength, as was her Christian Science Religion and faith in prayer. Survivors include: husband, Harold Schrage, Tomahawk; sons, Gregg (Paula) Schrage, Glen Ellyn, Illinois, Scott (Sharon) Schrage, Parker, Colorado, Todd (Cindy) Schrage, Wheaton, Illinois, Kipp (Lisa) Schrage, Lisle, Illinois; sister, Jo Clark, Boulder, Colorado. Phyllis is further survived by twelve grandchildren - Chad, Shana, Trevor, Kyle, Brant, Matthew, Tyler, Stephen, Melanie, Brad, Caitlin, and Rachel, and six great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, and sister - Kay Young. Funeral Services for Phyllis Schrage will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, November 21, 2013 at the Krueger Family Funeral Home in Tomahawk. Christian Science Practitioner Kim Korinek will read. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday morning from 9:00 AM until the hour of services at 11:00 AM. Memorials are appreciated to the Christian Science Church in Minocqua, or the Tomahawk Emergency Food Pantry.
