PRUDENCE “Prue” ALM
Prudence Ann “Prue” Alm, 77, Phillips, died in the Flambeau Hospital in Park Falls on Thursday, March 5, 2015. She was born in Chicago, Illinois, on July 23, 1937, the daughter of Lawrence and Anna (Kerner) Zamecnik. She was married to Richard Alm in the United Methodist Church in Philips on March 3, 1956. They made their home in Cicero, Illinois. She attended McHenry College of Illinois where she earned a degree in Engineering, and later attended Northland College in Ashland where she earned an Associates Degree. She was employed by the Motorola Company in Illinois as an IE Analyst. Prue and Richard returned to Phillips at the time of their retirement in 1988. She was an active member of the United Methodist Church of Phillips, and she was the first woman to hold the elected position of Supervisor for the Town of Worcester. In her free time she enjoyed baking, especially rye bread and rolls, and won numerous awards for them at the Price County Fair, she also enjoyed snowmobiling, quilting, and sewing, and loved music and was an accomplished player of the baritone saxophone and violin.
She is survived by four children, Jeffrey, Janesville, WI, Mary (Michael) Eberhardt, Naples, Florida, Barbara (Stephen) Wolf, Lombard, IL, and Gerald (Shari), Lombard, IL; by 6 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren; and by three brothers, Lawrence (Micki) Zamecnik, West Chicago, IL, Kenneth Zamecnik, Maple Park, IL, and Elmer (Nancy) Zamecnik, Milton, WI. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard, on June 13, 2009; and by one infant son, Michael.
Memorial services will be held at the United Methodist Church in Phillips at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, March 11, with Pastor Loretta Waughtal officiating. Inurnment will be in the Lakeside Cemetery in Phillips.
