Randy Hoegger

Randy J. Hoegger, an employee of Packaging Corporation of America, passed away unexpectedly July 29, 2008 as a result of an explosion while working for PCA. Randy was born December 9, 1952 in Tomahawk, the eldest son of the late Mabel (Durand) and Clarence Hoegger. He was a 1971 graduate of Tomahawk High School. Randy had been employed at PCA for over 35 years, working in maintenance, as well as operating the crane when needed. He always put safety first as he performed his job, constantly striving to be an exemplary employee who always put the safety and welfare of himself and his fellow employees first. Friends have said that when a job had to be performed that required a specific skill, fellow employees would ask for him and accept no others. He had the respect of all who knew and worked with him. Randy also had a passion for life. Whether snowmobiling, fishing, working on his home or cabin in Minong, WI, driving his El Camino on Sundays, or spending time with family and friends, he was a contented man who loved, and was loved by everyone who knew him. He had a deep and abiding love for his fiancée, Terri Henrich, as well as his stepchildren and grandchildren. It was always Grandpa Randy who brought little presents for the grandchildren and was anxiously awaiting the arrival of the newest grandchild due in late August. He treasured every moment he spent with them. He was especially proud of his "boys" and often spoke of their accomplishments and how they had become fine and honorable men - of course, that meant that he taught them well! To many of us, Randy was always ready to lend a hand. Whether grooming snowmobile trails, fixing a boat for someone, or volunteering his time for charitable activities, Randy willingly gave of himself. Randy is survived by his fiancée, Terri Henrich, his stepchildren, Tom (Dawn Oberg) Henrich, of Merrill, Ben (Carrie Pankow) Henrich, of River Falls, and Jason Henrich, of Appleton. He is further survived by his brother Bruce (Linda) Hoegger, of Minneapolis, MN, grandchildren, Jordyn, Kaiden, and Breanna Lynn Henrich (due August 2008), as well as many other relatives and friends. His passing will leave a void in all of our hearts. Randy, you will always be my hero, my constant companion, and the love of my life. We worked hard to struggle the difficult times and had so many plans for our future. This was not your time, but we will meet again, my love, and until then, stay with me for I cannot do this alone. "If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to Heaven and bring you home again." A Celebration of Randy's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 1, 2008 from St. Mary Catholic Church in Tomahawk. The family will receive friends at the church on Thursday, July 31st from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. and again at the church on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of services at 11:00 a.m. Krueger & Sons Funeral Home is assisting the family.
