Raymond "Ray" Timm, age 86, Tomahawk, passed away Friday, March 16, 2012 under hospice care at the home of his son, Fuzzy.
Ray was born October 18, 1925 in Shepley, the son of Fred and Meta (Brumm) Timm. At age 5, Ray moved to Tomahawk. He attended a one room school Roosevelt School and graduated from Tomahawk High School. During high school he played basketball and was involved in boxing. Ray was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving from 1943 - 1946. He was a Signalman on the ship Panament, and served both stateside and in Okinawa. After his discharge from the Navy, Ray played competitive baseball until the age of 44 including 4 years with the Merrill Rangers, winning several State Championships. He married Irene Dolan on April 27, 1946 in Duluth, Minnesota. She passed away in 1996. He was employed with Owens-Illinois for 47 years, retiring in 1993. While enjoying retirement, Ray attended both 1997 & 1998 Superbowls. Ray was a member of the VFW and the American Legion. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Tomahawk.

Ray is further survived by many grandchildren, great grandchildren and the family of his long-time companion Monica Hanson. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife - Irene, long-time companion - Monica Hanson, brothers - Rod and Dale Timm, sisters - Betty Wurl and Rose Johnston, and daughter-in-law - Janet.
Funeral Services with Military Rites for Ray Timm will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 19, 2012 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Tomahawk. Rev. Mark Schoenherr will officiate. The family will receive friends on Sunday, March 18that Krueger Family Funeral Home from 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Visitation will continue on Monday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of services at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery in Tomahawk.
