Richard Arthur Maris

Richard Arthur Maris passed away peacefully Saturday, May 1, 2021 at Marshfield Medical Center. He was born February 17, 1944 in Iowa City, Iowa, son of the late Dr. and Mrs. Arthur Maris.
He grew up in Des Moines, Iowa. He attended the University of Oklahoma on a swimming scholarship then on to the University of Iowa where he got his degree and met his wife, Jo. They were married September 3rd, 1966.
He was the Peoria, Illinois group manager at Great West Life Insurance company for 8 years before he started his own business, R.A. Maris/Associates.
He was preceded in death by his two brothers Alan and Gerrit. He is survived by his wife Jo and two sons Matthew (Janelle) and Jeffrey (Lori) and seven wonderful grandchildren, Carson, Connor, Collin, Natalie, Carter, Nicholas and Colbi. He was so proud of all of them. He will be truly missed.
A celebration of his life will be held this summer.
