Richard “Dick” Knuteson, age 65, formerly of Tomahawk, passed away after a short illness on Sunday, June 5, 2016 at Aspirus Ontonagon Hospital in Ontonagon, Michigan.
Dick was born on April 18, 1951 in Madison to his parents Myrlen & Patricia (nee Falls) Knuteson. In his earlier years, Dick was a manager of IGA Grocery Store, first in Stevens Point and then in Tomahawk. He later was employed at Tomahawk PCA where he retired after 25 years. Dick was a proud member of Tomahawk Volunteer Fire Department for over 20 years. He was an accomplished Scuba Diver & EMT. Dick was married to Marilyn (nee Johnson) Skolaski-Knuteson on August 7, 2011. Recently, they sold their Tomahawk home, on Lake Nokomis, and were spending their summers in Ontonagon Michigan, overlooking Lake Superior; & spending their winters in Gulf Shores, Alabama.
Dick is survived by his wife, Marilyn Skolaski-Knuteson; his son Eric Knuteson of Seattle; 2 stepsons, Brian (fiancé Erin Story) Skolaski and Mark (Jennifer) Skolaski, both of Tomahawk, two step-grandchildren, Adele and Brandee; his brother, Tom (Joan) Knuteson of Waukesha; sister, Susan (Keith) Streich of Madison; niece Melody (Chris Corsbie) Streich; nephew Bryan (Sarah) Streich; and his former spouse, Judith (Chris) Krein of Fort Myers, FL. He is further survived by his furry friends, Max and Monty.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Myrlen & Patricia Knuteson and his daughter, Dawn Knuteson.
A Memorial Service is planned for Dick Knuteson at 12:00 Noon on June 11, 2016 at the Krueger Family Funeral Home, in Tomahawk. Visitation will take place at the Funeral home from 10:00AM until the time of service at 12:00 Noon.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Dick's name may be made to the Tomahawk Fire Department or the American Cancer Society.
