Long-time Woodruff resident Richard (Dick) Kohl, 84, went to be with our Lord and Savior on September 11, 2019 after a long, courageous battle with cancer. He was surrounded (at home) by his loving family.

He joins his parent’s Joseph and Hazel, brother Raymond, and sister’s Marvel, Agnes, Mae and Alice.

Dick is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Irene. Lovingly remembered by his children, Richard (Robin), Douglas, Kurt (Janelle), Carolyn, and Christi Ellis. Further remembered by his precious grandchildren; Ryan, Jenna, Kevin, Andrea, Lauren, Mason and Caitlin. Further remembered and missed by in-laws; Joyce and Jerry Gawronski, Robert Steele, and Thomas (Karen) Steele and many nieces and nephews.

Dick served honorably in the US Army during the Korean War and received awards for being an expert rifleman. He will always be remembered for his AV-W high school basketball days. After retirement, Dick became a mail carrier. Dick had a wonderful sense of humor, quick wit, and a strong love of family. He was an avid outdoorsman and “master chef.”
Dick and Irene recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in July.
He will truly be missed, especially, by his little Cairn terrier, “Auggie.”

Per Dick’s wishes, a private family ceremony will be held.
