Richard 'Dick' Van Strydonk, age 75, W4643 Cty. Hwy. D, Tomahawk, passed away Tuesday, October 9, 2012 at Golden Living Center - Riverview in Tomahawk.
Dick was born October 30, 1936 in Tomahawk, the son of Alphonse and Eleanor (Ament) Van Strydonk. Dick was a 1954 graduate of Tomahawk High School. He married Judith Buss on August 3, 1957 in Harrison; she passed away May 8, 2006. Dick was a mechanic with MT&W Railroad for 27 years, retiring in 1992. Following his retirement from the railroad, he worked for 5 years at PCA Tomahawk Mill. He also owned and operated Dick's Tractor Repair, and drove sleigh for Paul Renn Sleigh Rides for many years. He was involved for many years with Tomahawk Little League and was a former official at the Tomahawk Speedway. He belonged to the Knight Owls Snowmobile Club and the Harrison Hills and Parrish Highlander ATV Clubs. Dick was a member of the Timber Producers Association and was active with Logging Congress for many years. He was a former Town of King supervisor and a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Tomahawk.

Dick is further survived by 14 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife - Judy, daughter - Jeanine, 2 sisters - Romaine and Phyllis, and 1 great grandchild.
A Memorial Mass for Dick Van Strydonk will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 14, 2012 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Tomahawk. Fr. John Anderson will officiate. The family will receive friends at the church on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of Mass at 3:00 p.m.
