Richard Thomas Mussa

Richard Thomas Mussa, age 91 of Milwaukee and Minocqua, expired peacefully with his grandson, Ryan DeWald- daughter, Charlene DeWald and son-in-law Michael DeWald at his side. He was born January 31st, 1921 to (the late) Leo and Clara Mussa. Rich graduated from Milwaukee Boys Tech, worked at A.O. Smith, served in the Navy in WW II, became a Milwaukee Firefighter and married (the late) Ida Sanfilippo on May 22nd, 1948. They were married for 59 years. He had been retired from the Milwaukee Fire Department since 1979. Richard had a players love for baseball, playing many years alongside his (late) brother, Anton (Tony). He was also preceded in death by his sister, Leona Musial. He enjoyed football from a reasonable distance but was on top of anything that needed fixing, in his own home and in the many homes of his family and friends. He was an accomplished carpenter, plumber and electrician with many an opportunity to practice his skills on his summer home at the lake. His “happy place”! Uncle Rich is survived by many loving nieces and nephews, sister-in-law Connie Wagner (Sanfilippo), brother-in-law Joseph Sanfilippo and numerous friends and neighbors. He will be greatly missed by Charlene and husband Mike, their son, Ryan, his wife Marjorie and their children, Fiona and Ezra. Our dearly loved Dad, Granpa and Grand Pa Pa has left a hole in our lives which is only eased by his long and fulfilled life. He has left his legacy in all the wonderful ways he loved us. Visitation on Wednesday, October 17, 2012 at ST. CHARLES BORROMEO CATHOLIC CHURCH, 3100 W. Parnell Avenue, Milwaukee from 9am to 10:45am with the Funeral Mass at 11am.
