Rita M. Johnson, age 88 of Manitowish Waters, WI died on Monday, April 1, 2013 at her residence. Rita was born on February 22, 1925 the daughter of John and Frances (nee Rybakowicz) Bulvan. She graduated from Kelly High School in Chicago, Illinois. Rita was employed at the Spiegel Company where she met “her Joe”. They were married on June 15, 1946. Her employment changed to Fox & Fox Laboratories; first on the production line making lollipops and rolled candy. She then received a promotion to perform clerical work, which continued for 36 years. She retired in 1985. The next chapter of their lives was to live their dream, retire in the woods of Manitowish Waters. Retirement brought her many hats, Grandma Sitter, Cleaning Lady and Baker of the Blue Bayou “special occasion” cakes which became known as “Grandma Cakes” and don’t forget “Soo Ling” my laundry service. After 44 years of marriage her Joe, passed on. Mom then took driving lessons and at the age of 66 had her first license and a car her “Betsy” the blue mustang. She loved her family and would do anything to help them. She always asked, “What can I do for You?” She survived by her children: Don (Ruth Ann) Johnson, Sue (Jack) Urban and Rita Mazur and by 9 Grandchildren and 7 Great Grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and special friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Husband, Joseph; her Sister, Mary Ann Annorino; Son-in-law, Wally Mazur and Nephew, Michael Annorino. Visitation will be on Friday, April 5th from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the Nimsgern Funeral Home Chapel in Woodruff, WI and Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, April 6th at 10:00 AM at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Manitowish Waters, WI with a visitation from 9:00 AM till time of service. Burial will be at Pinelawn Cemetery in Manitowish Waters, WI. In lieu of flowers memorial donations to American Cancer Society Relay for Life Blue Bayou Team or Manitowish Waters Fire Department or Horizon Memorial Garden at Marshfield Clinic in Minocqua.
