Robert J. Amelse, age 83, of the Bell Tower in Merrill, called to his heavenly home on Tuesday, June 25, 2013 at his home under Ministry Hospice.
Bob was born in Tomahawk, WI on January 14, 1930 to the late Theodore Amelse and Annie (VanderVoort) Amelse. He drove truck for Craig Way Construction, C. & J. Theiler Road Construction & Tomahawk Boat Company. He worked most of his life as a carpenter. Bob was the type who would help people, and never ask for a nickel; something he learned from his dad. On weekends he always found time to go ice fishing, rabbit hunting or deer hunting. A favorite pastime of Bob's was making scale models of semi trucks and trains. Bob lived in Tomahawk until 1974 when he moved to Schaumburg, IL. From 2000-2012 he lived in Green Bay and recently moved in to Bell Tower in Merrill where he was lovingly known as S.O.B. - Sweet Old Bob. He was a longtime member of the American Legion and was a 3rd degree Knight of Columbus.
