Robert (Bob) Joe Bucklew, age 81, passed away on Sunday, September 22, 2024 at Aspirus Hospital Howard Young Medical Center in Woodruff, WI. He was a loving husband, devoted father, cherished grandfather and dear friend to many.
He was born in Knoxville, IA, and moved with his family to the Minocqua/Woodruff area in the eighth grade. Bob was a member of the first class at the then new Lakeland Union High School. He lived a life filled with love, laughter, and kindness. When life gave him many challenges to face, he remained determined to live his best life. Bob was known for his quick wit, sense of humor and mischievousness. There was always a special twinkle in his eye and a grin on his face that will be missed so very much.
Bob worked for GTE telephone company for most of his career. He was respected for his hard work and integrity, leaving a lasting impression on all who had the pleasure of working with him.
In his free time, Bob enjoyed fishing at the cabin in Canada with family and friends, where many special memories were made and will always be treasured. Many hours were spent with his wife Sandy working on their many beautiful gardens in their yard. Bob truly loved being outdoors. He loved a good gun show and tinkering with firearms. Many hours were spent in his workshop where he was known to be able to fix just about anything. He loved working with tools and taught his children and grandchildren lifelong skills in using them. Bob found solace and joy in the simple moments spent with family and friends.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents Willard and Betty Bucklew, and his brother Timothy. He is survived by his siblings William (Kathleen) Bucklew and Richard Bucklew.
Bob will be dearly missed by his beloved wife of 60 years, Sandy; his children Jim (Jenny), Amy (Doug), Steve (Missy); his grandchildren, Elizabeth, Amanda (Brad), Jeremy (Carolyn), Jonathan (Raquel), Blaxton, Jordan, Justin, Georgiana Mae, and Dylan; his great grandchildren, Azarias, Athena, Emilia, Aislynn and Henry and his extended family and many friends. He will be remembered for his compassionate heart, love of animals, and his giving spirit.
Upon Bob’s wishes a cremation took place and private family services will be held. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Oneida County Humane Society, the American Heart Association or the Northwoods Wildlife Sanctuary in memory of Bob.
Bob may have left this world, but his love and legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
